Tonight Gutenberg held a meeting with some architects to discuss the possibilities for a hypothetical future campus. I say hypothetical, because the school does not currently have the resources to realize said campus, but they are recognizing the need to plan because the school is bursting at the seams.
We talked about lots of qualities that Gutenberg has that we would like to carry on and emphasize in any new facilities—a homeyness, a sense of togetherness and community, good nooks in which to study, a total absence of boring sterility… stuff like that.
We also suggested that it look like Hogwarts and have gun turrets.
If that doesn’t sum up Gutenberg and its student body, I don’t know what does.

I’ve always dreamed to teach in a school like Hogwart… But not, sadely.

The problem with new buildings is that… well, they’re not old buildings. If you have a spare moment, take a stroll down to UO and visit the brand-new Lillis business complex. Then go take a look at and/or in Deady hall, which is right behind Lillis. Deady is the oldest(built in 1876) and arguably coolest building on campus. Could you build another Deady hall? I doubt it. You can’t really build old buildings.
Sad, really. Old buildings often have the most personality.

Hmm… gun turrets… I LIKE IT!
