Actually I think it's pretty much any natural fiber. I have a wool coat... several actually, one acquired at a Value Village in Halifax, NS... and my Mom has a few. In my experience, when wet they all smell like wet animal (pick your fav: dog, cat, sheep, goat, camel?, wookiee). It ain't pleasant for the nose.

I suggest an umbrella to go with that cute coat. ;)

James - I knew that was you before I even read your comment. I remain as skeptical as I was when you first proposed this possibility.

Philip - I think that wool, dyed jackets are sometimes called "camel" because of their color. But I'm pretty sure mine is the genuine article.

Ian - You're right! I cried for five minutes after you left this comment. (Just kidding.)

Damian - Wouldn't you like to know. :D

I really like those kinds of coats, though I've never smelled one when it was wet. I have been looking for a good coat but since I hate shopping it's tough.

though apparently camel hair jackets (i would have thought they were just normal peacoats dyed beige instead of black) are all the range, a know a couple other girls with them...

I find it odd that camel hair is not a good rain repellent seeing as they drink so much water.
