Every time i drive near Eugene on my way to California, I always wonder if I'll bump into you somewhere. no, I'm not a stalker but I've been reading your blog for over a year and i hope that some day maybe we'll meet. I'm glad you have time to write again, you have such talent at making a frustrating situation into a funny story. it's usually by giving inanimate objects personality. :) haha, that little story did make me laugh. Too bad that happened. My mac did a similar thing once, WITH MY ENTIRE PhD THESIS. Needless to say I'm now a back-up FIEND with DVRs, an external HD, *two* flashdrives, server space, and the HD facility on two different iPods. I also email myself everything to two different email accounts, *just in case* all my hardware should get burned in a housefire, and the webserver gets simultaneously hit by lightning. Friends call me neurotic, but hey, small price for not losing anything!!
